We added a "smart return" system for the WATCH WITH US submenu.
WHY:
- Some visitors enter Theater.html from inside StoryGum (index.html).
- Others enter Theater.html from outside (QR codes, YouTube, Facebook).
- These two visitor types need different return behavior.
WHAT IT DOES:
- Internal visitors (index → theater.html?from=watch) should return
to the WATCH WITH US submenu inside index.html.
- External visitors (direct link → theater.html) should return
to the main StoryGum Lobby for the full cinematic entrance.
HOW IT WORKS:
- Child pages (like theater.html) detect ?from=watch or ?submenu=watch.
- If detected → Lobby button sends user to index.html?submenu=watch.
- If not detected → Lobby button sends user to index.html normally.
- index.html auto-opens the correct submenu when ?submenu=watch is present.
IMPORTANT:
- The Lobby button ALWAYS says "Lobby" (never "Back").
Only its destination changes based on visitor origin.
FUTURE USE:
- If we ever want similar behavior for:
• PICK YOUR PLAYGROUND
• CREATE WITH US
we can duplicate this pattern using:
?from=kids → ?submenu=kids
?from=create → ?submenu=create
This note explains the architecture so future-us can extend it
without re-learning the logic.
